Barbara Scheetz, Optometrist
Dr. Barbara Scheetz is a Des Moines native, a graduate of Dowling High School, and Drake University. She received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Houston in 1989. Upon graduating, she returned to practice in the Des Moines area.
In 1997 Dr. Scheetz was appointed by the governor to be a member of the Iowa Board of Optometric Examiners, which she was a part of for nine years. In 1998, Barbara received “The Young Optometrist of the Year Award” for the state of Iowa. The award is given to an optometrist who shows leadership, dedication and commitment to the profession.
Dr. Scheetz is married and the couple have a love for Drake basketball games, camping, traveling and spending time with their kids and grandchildren.
Dr Kreg Harper, Optometrist
Dr. Harper is an Iowa native hailing from Panora, IA. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and then received his doctorate from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.
Dr Harper brings with him a wealth of experience. He spent him immediate post graduate time in fellowship at the Minneapolis Eye Consultants specializing in laser refractive surgery and advanced glaucoma treatment. Following his time in Minnesota, he received additional training and or was employed in some of the most prestigious ophthalmology practices in the upper Midwest including: Tobin Eye Institute in MO; Omaha Eye & Laser institute in NE; and Wolfe Eye clinic in Iowa. Dr Harper specializes in medical eye care related to diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis; glaucoma, cataracts and eye pathology. He also treats eye infections, valuates LASIK candidates in addition to performing routine eye exams and fitting contact lenses.
Dr Harper is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Iowa Optometric Association; and Heart of America Contact Lens Society. He has served as a national COPE reviewer where he would evaluate continuing education courses and recommends national certification of content which is then accepted in every state and US territory.
He has two children; Katherine a nurse in Des Moines and Eli who is pursuing further education in medicine in Denver. His interests include his pets, music and travel.
Elisha, Office Manager
Elisha has been the office manager for Dr. Scheetz for over 15 years! She knows the “in’s and out’s” of the office. Any questions about billing she can answer. Any questions you have about anything: she can answer! Elisha lives in Altoona with her husband Jeff and children; Macie, Cooper, and Hunter. Her greatest joys are her children and she spends all her free time with them making family memories.
Cherish, Operations Lead
Cherish: As the Lead of Operations Cherish has been with Ashworth Vision Clinic for over 12 years. She acts as a liaison between patients and staff/doctors, schedules appointments, gathers insurance eligibility & benefits and any other requests to help with patients needs. She resides in Urbandale with her husband Nick and children. She loves to travel (especially to Disney) and spending time with family and friends.
Lynsey is the other half of our operations department. She is the first point of contact when patients call. She checks insurance, schedules patients, assists with ordering contacts and makes sure your entire visit here runs smoothly. She brings over 10 years of experience with insurance and customer service and is excited to continue learning about the industry. Lynsey resides in West Des Moines and enjoys spending quality time with her daughter and son, Savannah and Landon. She loves to travel and see the ocean.
Miles, Optician – Lab Operations
Miles has been with Ashworth Vision Clinic for over 8 years. He has been in optical for over 31 years! He has a passion for customer care and patients know him by name. He lives in Ankeny with his family. He enjoys jamming to music in the lab and keeping up with all sports.
Stacey earned her medical assistant degree in September of 2013. As a technician, Stacey assists with all patient testing and she assists the doctors as needed. She excels in contact lens ordering. Stacey always greet the patient with a smile. She resides in Ankeny with her family. In her free time she enjoys being outside, playing soccer with her son and supporting the Vikings.
As an optician Lisa will assist you with the frame selection process. She is customer focused and with her easy going personality brings out the fun in frame selection. Lisa lives in Winterset. She has two sons, a grand daughter and one more grandchild on the way. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading and family time.
This is Cristina, born and raised in Des Moines. She is a recent college graduate from the University of Iowa where she received a bachelor’s in Health and Human Physiology. She enjoys working with patients first hand and having a positive impact on the health of those patients she cares for. Her pleasant demeanor and can-do attitude will have you leave the office knowing you were well taken care of!
Cheyenne joined Ashworth Vision Clinic in February 2020 and is excited about her first year in optical. She brings over five years of customer service knowledge and will always strive to make sure patients’ needs are met and they leave happy. Originally from Michigan, she moved to Iowa to be closer to family. Being from the great lake state, she loves all things outdoors but also enjoys sitting down with a good book in the winter months. She recently had her first little boy, Luca, and loves spending time at home with her new family and watching the world through her sons’ eyes.
Jordan has been in optical for a year and loves it! She is originally from Kansas but moved to Iowa when she was in grade school so it is considered home! She still lives in her hometown but will be moving closer to the Des Moines area. She loves to plan events, paint (badly) and write. As an optician, Jordan will meet all of your frames need from adjustments to picking out the perfect pair for you or your loved one!
Victoria is one of our Newest Opticians. She worked as an Ophthalmic Technician previously, before joining our team in January 2020. She is very intrigued by the Ophthalmic industry. Not only by the science or health of the eye but by the frame selection and material side as well. She is committed to helping find the right fit, material, and style for your optical needs. She is a recent homeowner, a dog momma, and the Auntie of two beautiful nieces. She enjoys spending time with family and hanging out at the families Apple Orchard in the fall during harvest season.
